Here at Releaf, we are constantly improving our processes and medical cannabis delivery service to ensure that our patients receive their prescribed medication in a timely and efficient manner, and for good reason. This isn't any old online shopping order they're waiting on. It's their medication - something that is vital to their health and wellbeing.

While we understand that receiving medication can be a stressful experience, especially for patients who rely on it daily, our team at Releaf works tirelessly to make the process as seamless and stress-free as possible.

So, continuing our series aimed at answering the questions we hear most often from prospective or new patients, today, we answer, "How does Releaf deliver patients their prescribed medication?"

How does Releaf deliver patients their prescribed medication?

Through the Royal Mail.

The medical cannabis delivery is tracked from the pharmacy to the patient's doorstep to ensure the safety and security of the medication. Patients are informed as soon as the prescription has been picked up, are supplied with a tracking number, and can monitor the progress of their delivery directly through the Royal Mail tracking system.

How do patients receive a medical cannabis prescription in the UK with Releaf?

The process begins with the patient completing our free, quick, and easy eligibility checker. It takes less than 30 seconds and has just three main questions. If you are deemed eligible, you will then be prompted to book an initial consultation and asked to provide a copy of your medical records, or we can reach out to your GP on your behalf to access your medical records.

During the initial consult, the specialist will ask a series of questions designed to determine if medical cannabis is a suitable treatment option for your condition. There is no single set of questions. Instead, the specialist will have a conversation with you, and based on your answers, medical history, and medical records, the specialist will make an informed decision.

The specialist will then meet with our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) of consultants that afternoon (or early the next morning if your consultation takes place in the afternoon) to discuss the patient and their case. At this point, the MDT will decide if you are suitable for a private prescription of medical cannabis. If approved, the specialist will then write the prescription.

At this point, you will receive an email and SMS letting you know if you have been offered a prescription. Once you make the payment, the prescription will be sent to the pharmacy.

This initial phase typically takes one to two days from the first consultation.

How long does medical cannabis delivery take once the pharmacy receives the prescription?

While the goal is for the medical cannabis delivery to reach your doorstep within 3 to 4 days, this is not always the case. Once the pharmacy receives the prescription, the most common reason for a delay is a lack of medication stock.

As announced in The Sunday Times, Releaf recently partnered with Glass Pharms to try and fix this stock issue. Our patients are now able to receive the legally available UK-grown medical cannabis crop is now accessible to our patients.

This will speed up the process considerably, as we now have a more direct and reliable supply chain instead of relying on overseas medical cannabis producers.

If there are no stock issues, the prescription is sent out for delivery immediately, and patients can expect to receive their medication within 3 to 4 days.

However, if there are any delays or stock issues, our team will notify the patient and work with the pharmacy to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

If you have any other questions regarding prescription delivery or medical cannabis, more generally, reach out at any point. We also have a blog overflowing with information on medical cannabis, as well as a huge education section - so be sure to check them out.
